Final Public Meeting for Downtown West Transportation Planning Study

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites the community to the final meeting of the Downtown West Transportation Planning Study to be held on Thursday, July 20.  The final public meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about study findings and final alternative recommendations. Community members are invited to attend and provide feedback on the recommended alternative, to help inform the next project phase.

The Downtown West Study aims to improve east-west travel for cyclists, pedestrians, and buses. The study area includes:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 17th Street and Washington Circle; and
  • H and I Streets NW between New York Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The project includes the development of alternatives for a separated bicycle lane and pedestrian improvements on Pennsylvania Avenue NW and evaluation of a contraflow bus lane on H Street NW.
